Hey gals!
I just spent the past week skiing at Squaw Valley in Lake Tahoe, catching up with my family and enjoying some fresh powder. My fav! What a great start to the year—and honestly, we had the best time! After a couple of weeks of traveling, a few days out on the slopes, and time spent away from home eating meals that aren’t a part of my usual routine—I’ve been thinking a lot about energy, recovery, and what truly fuels me.
There’s something so incredible about being on the mountain all day that makes you appreciate how much your body keeps you going, especially running on energy bars and sucking on snow instead of water! 😆 Being able to get in a couple of extra runs despite being deeply hungry for lunch. Generally, just all the energy expended while traveling—rushing around catching flights, being in different time zones, and waking up at weird hours, and having meetings all over the city, makes you reflect on just how much your body battery is working behind the scenes.
It got me thinking: What does it really mean to have a healthy metabolism? We tend to focus on so many quick fixes (see my recent posts on Slow is Fast) but what if we made the effort to be balanced, consistent, and ensure we got just the right kind of fuel to keep things chugging along nicely!?
This post is for you if…

✅ You look in the mirror, and your skin looks saggy or you just don’t see yourself.
✅ You forget to eat, skip meals, or just grab anything when you reach peak hunger pangs.

And Why It’s Not Just About Burning Calories
Metabolism is one of those words that gets thrown around a lot, but most people don’t fully understand what it actually means. So let’s break it down.
At its core, metabolism is the process your body uses to convert food into energy. But it’s not just about burning calories—it’s about how well your body fuels itself and, ultimately, how you feel every day.
Your metabolism is working 24/7, whether you’re lying in bed or running a 5K. And it plays a role in so much more than just weight—it affects how energized, focused, and balanced you feel.
Here’s what your metabolism impacts:
